Rotary’s Humanity in Motion television, radio, print, Internet, and billboard public service announcements (PSAs) focus on Rotary volunteer efforts that address critical community issues, such as literacy, water, hunger, and at-risk youth. Whether funding scholarships, creating neighborhood centers, or ridding the world of a terrible disease, Rotary club members believe anything is possible. <more>

Some History of The Rotary Club
In Chicago in 1905, Paul Harris and three acquaintances met to organize a small group of local businessmen to meet weekly for comradeship.  They rotated the meeting sites and called it a Rotary Club.  It soon became a luncheon-meeting club, with group singing, and the service idea was developed.  A wagon-wheel became the Club symbol.  In 1908, other clubs formed, and in 1910 a National Association of Rotary Clubs was formed, with Paul Harris as president.  A convention was held and a national office was established

About our Club

Louisiana Rotary carries the inspiration of its founder Paul Harris, Rotary is about friendship and fellowship, we are a group of local business and professional leaders who dedicate themselves to giving back to our community and the world as well. Best of all, the Club has given high inspiration to its members in the Rotary ideal of unselfishness. The Rotary motto of "Service Above Self" lives in the Louisiana Rotary Club.

The Louisiana Rotary was chartered in 1924 with 26 members. Today our club has 44 members; we meet for lunch at twelve noon every Thursday at the First Christian Church 517 South Carolina Street in Louisiana Missouri. <click to see the Golden Anniversary issue of the Press Journal in 1974>

We annually sponsor local projects that can be found on the projects page. These projects address our interest in supporting our local community by helping those who may be less fortunate, raising funds for scholarships, community betterment and numerous other projects.

As members eat lunch the meeting will begin, the club will report on current and new projects, announcements of upcoming events, an occasional “Rotary Minute” from one of our members and the weekly report from the Sergeant at Arms and fining for members who arrive late or leave early and the occasional cell phone that rings during the meeting. Good humor can always be found at our meetings.

Each week one Rotarian is responsible for a program, they are called the “Rotarian of the day”, the Rotarian of the day may bring in a guest speaker who may be a public official, school administrator or teacher, Rotary officer, director of a not-for-profit organization, or a fellow member giving a talk on what their business does.

Come and Be our Guest!
